Khushi Baby began in 2014 with a question posed in a Yale engineering classroom: how do you close the immunisation gap for families at the last mile?

The first answer was a wearable digital health record for mothers and infants in Udaipur. Years of field research, rigorous trials, and hard-won government trust followed. By 2019, we were presenting a vision to transform primary health care tracking and response through a new digital framework for India’s largest state.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated everything. Overnight, the team was operating across 50,000 health workers and 12 million people, and the pressure showed that this infrastructure could hold together an entire health system. That insight became CHIP, now India’s second-largest digital health platform for community health management, with 85,000 community health workers onboarded across Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

After a decade, the question has grown: how do we make sure the data collected at the last mile closes the care loop, all the way to measurable health outcomes.

We are a team that goes to the field before it draws conclusions, that measures obsessively because it knows instinct alone isn’t enough, and that has learned, sometimes the hard way, to go far together rather than fast alone.
Our values were earned across a decade of working inside systems that resist change, in districts where trust takes years to build, and on problems where there are no clean answers.

We believe in frontline workers as the true architects of health outcomes. We believe in jugaad, the discipline of doing more with less, because the communities we work with have never had the luxury of waste. We believe in owning our mistakes as clearly as we celebrate our wins. And we believe, above all else, that the work must go on, because the people at the last mile don’t have the option to wait for a better moment.
